Andrew Saxton was born in North Vancouver and spent his early childhood living on the North Shore where his father built the Grouse Mountain skyride and headed up the mountain resort.
Andrew graduated with a degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario in 1986. He started his career in finance with Credit Suisse in Switzerland, and later took a position in New York before returning to Vancouver with the same firm. In 1994, Andrew moved to Hong Kong with HSBC and in 1997 he was appointed Senior Vice President of HSBC Private Banking in Singapore. Most recently, Andrew was the CEO of King George Financial Corp, a real estate investment firm.
On October 14, 2008, Andrew was elected as the Member of Parliament for North Vancouver. In November 2008, he was named Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board and following his re-election in May 2011, he was also appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Western Economic Diversification. He is active in both roles, and also serves on the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.
He lives in North Vancouver and has been active in local volunteer and charitable organizations, such as: Former Member of the Board of Directors, Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon; Member, North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce; former Member, BC?s Asia Pacific Trade Council.
Andrew enjoys outdoor sports and the great natural environment of this beautiful riding. He is fluent in English and French.
