About Us

Intellectual Disabilities Society (IDS) began in 1956 when a group of parents came together to advocate for better social and educational services for their children with special needs. As an agency, the interests of families and self-advocates are the foundation of every program and service we offer. We offer Supported Homes, Life Skills, Respite, Recreational and Employment programs for those who want paid employment in the community.

We develop all our programs and services in consultation with self-advocates and families. Our ongoing commitment is to meet the individual and evolving needs of the North Shore community. Our services are collaborative, flexible, client-centered and highly accountable.
