Terry Beech, Member of Parliament for Burnaby North-Seymour
Terry Beech is the Member of Parliament for Burnaby North-Seymour and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (B.C.).
As an MP, Terry has worked directly on key pieces of legislation including the Fisheries Act, the Oil Tanker Moratorium Act, the Oceans Act, the Wrecked, Abandoned, or Hazardous Vessels Act, and more. Terry has also consistently championed issues important to British Columbians, ranging from action on climate change and oceans protection, to better transportation and affordable housing solutions. For his unparalleled engagement in the community, Terry was voted Parliamentarian of the Year for Civic Outreach by Members of Parliament from all parties.
Prior to being elected to the House of Commons, Terry served as a City Councillor in Nanaimo, BC, before attending Simon Fraser University (BBA) and Oxford University (MBA). With his brother, Doug, Terry founded Twinbro Local Leaders, a non-profit focused on helping students access scholarships to attend post secondary. Terry and Doug also founded tech-company, HireTheWorld. Terry has taught as an adjunct professor at SFU and UBC.
