About community energy

Community energy (also known as district energy) is a centralized system that produces and distributes thermal energy (heat or cooling) to multiple buildings in a specific area, such as the City of North Vancouver. Rather than each building having its own heating or cooling system, community energy shares thermal energy from centralized energy centres to meet the needs of all connected buildings.

Our system includes eight energy centres and a 15-km long pipe network connecting over 110 buildings. These include businesses, residential buildings, and facilities like the North Vancouver City Library, the Shipyards District, Polygon Gallery, Monova, and the John Braithwaite Community Centre.
